There is no million-dollar prize at the finish line, only bragging rights. In each of the 13 legs this season, teams have just 60 hours to make it from start to finish, surviving off the land with only the gear on their backs.

No GPS. No phoning home. On every episode, each team must use wilderness skills as well as ingenuity to push its way through some of the most hostile territory think moving, melting glaciers, crushing avalanches and hungry grizzly bears with minimal food and provisions.

Teammates must work together to plot a course that gives them the best chance of winning that leg of the competition. Teamed up with McCleskey are the oldest of the group, legendary but not very likeable mountain climber James Sweeney, and professional skier Kasha Rigby.

Each had a different skill set and different personality. McCleskey said he found the team dynamics to be just as challenging as the severe, punishing Alaskan wilderness. The team dynamics was a bigger challenge from what I ever thought it would be. For me it was really hard trying to keep my cool. With Sweeney, it was hard to understand what goals he was working toward.
